This Lord Hanuman temple is located in the premises of Sree Raghavendraswamy mutt, Malleshwaram 8th cross, Bangalore, Karnataka state. This mutt is also known as 'Jayanna mutt' locally.
'Malleshwaram' is the north-western district of Bengaluru city. Sri H. V. Nanjundaiah is the founder of Malleshwaram and 6th main road is named after him. The neighborhood of Malleshwaram hosts people from all walks of life. The Nobel laureate Sir C.V. Raman, scientist Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan and Sri Doraiswamy iyengar who was a Carnatic musician and one of the greatest exponents of the Veena in modern history.
'8th cross' is the busiest shopping street in malleshwaram mainly for clothes, fruits, vegetables and flowers. Everything is available here. The road is always flooded with people. On either side of 8th Cross a large informal street market is stretched with a jumble of fresh produce and plastic items carpeting the way at ankle and waist level. Off this road, near the Ganesha temple, lies the fruit and vegetable market commonly known as the old market, said to be one of the oldest in Bangalore.During festivals, the road between Sampige and Margosa wii be closed due to heavy traffic. RK Narayan was very much impressed with Mallleswaram and Basavanagudi areas. 'Malgudi' days was derived from these two names. Another prominent landmark in Malleshwaram is the Indian Institute of Science.
Here the Lord Hanuman idol looks very magnificent and glorious. This mutt is having a vast surrounding area comprising a function hall where spiritual discourses and other functions will be arranged. There is a big banyan tree under which the statues of serpent deities were installed.
Many devotees come to this temple and offer their prayers to the Lord. Festivals like Hanuma Jayanti,Ramanavami will be celebrated here performing special pooja, homa to Lord Anjaneya.
