This ancient temple known as Hanuman temple of Dodda Banaswadi is said to be more than 150 years old. Previously there were two villages called 'Chikka Banaswadi and Dodda Banaswadi. Banaswadi is a well known busy locality situated to the north east of Bangalore, about 6 km from the centre of the city.With the outer ring road connecting Banaswadi to IT hubs of the city there is a rapid growth of business activities in this area.
Banaswadi Anjaneya Swamy Temple was designed by late Sri Kempegowda the architect of Bangalore.'Gopuram' was constructed in typical Dravidian style, There are other deities Lord Rama, Shiva(Basaveshwara) and Ganapathi in the temple premises. In Banaswadi, there are several other famous temples: the Swami Ayyappa Temple, Uma Maheshwari Amman Temple Nanjangud Sree Raghavendraswamy mutt, Maha Ganapathi temple, Kodanda Rama temple etc.
Here the idol of deity Veera anjaneya swamy which is 4ft tall looks very magnificent is installed by the Saint guru Sri Vyasarajaru. It had been sculpted at 'Saligrama' which is a small town located on the way to Kundapura from Udupi.
Here , the idol of Lord Hanuman sheds tears on the day of 'Hanuman Jayanthi' which happens every year is a very rare phenomenon.
On every saturday many devotees come to this temple and worship lord Veera Anjaneya swamy.
