Gandi Kshetram, A holy place famous for Veera Anjaneya swamy temple. This temple is Located in Vempalli Gandi , Cuddapah District and Andhra Pradesh State, India. It is located on the banks of Paapagni, small tributary river surrounded by a very pleasant atmosphere. During period of Tretayuga, the hanuman statue is sculpted by Lord Sri Rama.



The script which can be seen inside this temple is written below.



“త్రేతా యుగంలో దశరధ నందనుడైన శ్రీ రామ చంద్రమూర్తి తన వనవాసకాలంలో స్వహస్తములతో తన నిశీత శిలీ ముఖంతో బాణపు కొనతో గీచిన ఆంజనేయ స్వామి నేడు గండి క్షేత్రం”.


Here, This temple is built on the foot of a hill on the western side of the river 'Papagni'.  and situated on vempalli - Rayachoti road. It is 55 km from Kadapa and 8 km from Vempalli. Papagni river flows at this place frm south to north in between two hills. A legend says, that Lord Rama visited this place in his return journey frm Lanka and stayed for sometime attracted by its natural beauty and serene atmosphere.. It has gained a great name and fame as vayukshetra.To welcome Lord Sri Rama  Vayu,the wind-God hung a wreath of golden flowers across the ravine. There is a belief among the people that it is visible to the sacred souls at the approach of their death time. Sir Thomas Manroe was fortunate enough to see it when he passed near the ravine. His followers grieved much for this for they knew that he would shortly die. 

Before leaving this place Sri Rama carved the figure of Anjaneya on a rock. The stone Prakaram around the sanctum sanctorum is said to have been built by one Tirupathi Seshanna in 1911, 

Here, a Choultry is built by a retired dist judge, Tadimarrl Bhujanga Rao  for pilgrims stay. 



This Abhaya Anjineya Swamy temple is located in Gandi. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the state visit this place every saturday especially in the months of Sravana and Karthika.
