Kaiwara is a holy place in Karnataka which is about 70 kms of drive kms of drive from bangalore. This was popularly called as Ekachakra Nagara in Dwaparayuga. Mahabharata narrates the story that Pandavas spent some time here during their exile in forest.
During their stay in Ekachakra Nagara, Bhima fought with rakshas, Bakasura and killed him. This fight happened in a hill which is called as Kaiwara hills today. This hill is a must visit for people visiting Kaiwara. It takes about 45mins to go uphill from the foot of the hills. One can find rocks and tiny caves enroute to the top of the hills.
There is a small temple of Bhima on the top of the hills. One can have a darshan here and also enjoy a nice view of Kaiwara.
Kaiwara hills gives you a strong feel of a holy place with good spiritual vibrations. We were a little surprised to see two dogs climbing this hills. It didnt look normal for me to see these dogs climbing the hills. These dogs behaved very well and it looked like they knew this place before and there was nothing that these dogs could benefit from climbing the hills in terms of getting some food. I came to know that many others have experienced the same when they climbed this hills. I just thought of mentioning this because it was quite unnatural.
There are other temples in Kaiwara worth visiting like Amara Narayana temple, Kaiwara Taathaiyya (Saint supposed to have lived more than 200 years ago), Bheema Lingeshwara temple.
