The village ‘Manangi’ is located near Chitradurga,  the historically famous town on the way to ‘Bheemasamudra’.  From there,  if you go by walk for aboout 2km towards west direction you will find the ‘Bheemanjaneya’ temple which is contructed by the sculptors of ‘Murudeshwar’.  There is an entrance arch facing east direction.

During the reign of Vijayanagara kings,  This idol was installed by Sri Vyasarajaru,  the Rajaguru of the ‘Vijayanagara’ empire.

Legend says that once there lived a brahmarakshasa who used to torture the residents of the village 'Manangi'.  Bheemasena rescued them by killing the demon.  so the deity is known as 'Bheemanjaneya'. It is said that this area was under the rule of 'Palegars'.   Previously,  this place was called as 'Sri Rangapattana'
