'Kasapuram' previously known as 'Kalasapuram' is a village in Guntakal mandal, Anantapur dist, Andhra Pradesh. The presiding deity here is known 'Nettikanti Anjaneya swamy'. He is the Kalpatharu and Abhayapradata to his devotees.During Sravana masa thousands of devotees visit this pilgrim center to have His grace and blessings.
During the reign of Sri Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagara empire (1509-1530 AD), His holiness Sri Vyasarayaru saved the king and the country from 'Kuhu yoga' period by sitting on the throne and ruling kingdom for one hour and thirty six minutes. Guru Vyasarayaru installed 732 idols of lord Hanuman at various places. Kasapuram temple is one among them.
Daily sevas performed to this deity are Prathahkala seva, Arjitha seva, Aaku puja, Vadamala, Bala bhoga nivedana, Abhishekam, Alankaram. The varshikothsavams ( the annual festivals and functions) performed in this temple are Hanuman jayanthi on Chaitra Suddha Poornima, Guru poornima, Panchasuktha homam and Mahabhishekam on Jyashta Poornima, Sree Sitaramakaiyanam on Chaitra Navami, Lankadahanam and Rathotsavam on Ugadi.
Every year the devotees make ready a pair of 'Padaraksha'(shoes) to the Lord after their desire is fulfilled. The cobbler prepares them with great devotion by observing 'Brahmacharyam' and taking one meal daily. There is a staunch belief that the Lord Hanuman is moving out wearing them during nights. After presenting to the Lord, one can observe them worn out with thorns in certain places.
Every Saturday in the months of Visakha, Sravana, Karthika and Margha thousands of devotees visit this temple to do the functions like Naming ceremony, tonsuring and Dasangam. The devotees sleep in the temple premises praying the Lord Hanuman to protect them from all the evil effects and difficulties in life.
Miracle:
The experiences of devotees reveal the miracles of lord Sri Kasapuram Anjaneya. one of them is mentioned below.
The branch postmaster of Pamidi in Anantapur dist., Andhra Pradesh had no male chid. In 1972 his wife visited the Kasapuram and prayed the lord Hanuman to bless her with a male child. She had a 'Mudupu' (Token of promise) that she will come again after having a male child. After that she was blessed with a male child. They felt very happy and forgot about the promise. One night Lord Hanuman reminded her promise and patted her back with his right hand. She got up and saw the hand impression on her blouse. She told everything her husband. They visited the Kasapuram temple and fulfilled their promise. Even now we can see the blouse with the lord Hanuman's hand imression in the Temple executive office.
