Yantroddharaka Hanuman

The Yantrodharaka Hanuman temple,  one of the most sacred pilgrim places which is located in Hampi near the 'Chakra teertha' behind the Kodanda Rama temple on the banks of the river 'Tundabhadra' on top of a hillock.  Here,  an idol of Lord Hanuman idol in the middle of the 'Yantra' (Amulet).  The Hanuman idol is in sitting and meditating posture which is rarely seen.   If we look closer we can find the images of monkeys carved around the Yantra.  This is the first Hanuman idol among the 732 idols installed by the Madhwa Saint Sri Vyasarajaru (1460-1539),  the Rajaguru of the Vijayanagara empire.  The temple was constructed by the King Tammaraya.  Historically,  Hampi is the place where the Kishkindha kingdom was located.  It is said that this is the place where Sugreeva is crowned by Sri Rama after killing his brother Vali. 

Once Vysarajaru,  the Rajaguru of the Vijayanagara Empire visited the places with serene atmosphere on the banks of river 'Tungabhadra'.  One day he took bath in river Tungabhadra and doing the prayer and meditation sitting on the banks of the holy river Tungabhadra.  While in meditation,  an image of monkey kept coming frequently in his mind. day an image of monkey.  Then he sketched the same image on the rock near by using Angaara (Charcoal)  But to his surprise,  the image became alive and jumped off the rock.  Astonished by this,  he repeated the drawing on the rock for 12 times.  But each time as soon as he finishes drawing the image becomes alive and vanishes.  Then he thought of  confining the image within the 'Yantra'.  Then the image stayed there with that yantra.  Hence it is called 'Yantroddharaka Hanuman'. 

Daily Thousands of devotees are visiting this shrine and having darshan of Lord Hanuman.  Historically,  Many Madhwa saints and haridasas have worshipped this Lord.

नमामि दूतं रामस्य सुखदं च सुरद्रुमम्                                                 

श्री मारुतात्मसम्भूतं विद्दुत्कांचन  सन्निभम्

पीनवृत्तम् महाबाहुं सर्वशत्रु निवारणम्
रामप्रियतम् देवं भक्ताभीष्टप्रदायकम्

नानारत्नसमायुक्तं कुण्डलादि विराजितम्
द्वात्रिंशल्लक्षणोपेतम् स्वर्णपीठ विराजितम्

त्रिंशत्कोटिबीज सम्युक्तं द्वादशावर्ति प्रतिष्ठितम्
पद्मासनस्थितम् देवं षट्कोणमंडल मध्यगम्

चतुर्भुजम् महाकायं सर्ववैष्णव शेखरम्
गदाभयंकरं   हस्तौ हृदिस्थो सुकृतांजलिम्

हंसमंत्र प्रवक्तारं सर्वजीवनियामकम्
प्रभंजनशब्दवाच्येण सर्वदुर्मत भंजकं

सर्वदाभीष्टदातारम् सतां धृढमाहवे
अंजनागर्भसम्भूतम् सर्वशास्त्रविशारदम्

कपीनाम् प्राणदातारम् सीतान्वेषण तत्परम्
अक्षादि प्राणदातारम् लंकादहन तत्परम्

लक्षमणप्राणदातारम् सर्ववानरयूथपं
किंकराः सार्वदेवाद्याः जानकीनाथस्य किंकरम्

वासिनम् चक्रतीर्थस्य गिरौ सदा
तुङ्गाम्भोदि तरङ्गस्य वातेन परिशोभिते

नानादेशगतैः सद्भिः सेव्यमानं नृपोत्तमैः
धूपदीपादि नैवेद्याः पाँचखाद्यैश्च शाक्तितः

भजामि श्री हनुमंत (हनुमत्पादम्) हेमकान्ति समप्रभम्
व्यासतीर्थयतीन्द्रेण पूजितम् च विधानतः

त्रिवारं यः पठेन्नित्यम् स्तोत्रं भक्त्या द्विजोत्तम
वांछितं लभतेभीष्टम् षणमासाभ्यन्तरे खलु

पुत्रर्थि लभते पुत्रं  यशोर्थि लभते यशः
विद्यार्थि लभते विद्याम् धनार्थि लभते धनं
सर्वथामस्तु संदेहो हरिः साक्षी जगत्पतिः
यः करोत्यत्र सन्देहं स याति नरकम् ध्रुवम्

यान्त्रोद्धारकस्तोत्रम षोडशश्लोक संयुतम्
श्रवणं कीर्तनं वा सर्वपापैः प्रमुच्यते

इति श्री व्यासराजकृत यान्त्रोद्धारक हनूमत् स्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम्
भारतीरमण मुख्यप्राणान्तर्गत श्री कृष्णार्पणमस्तु
