There is a place called Bhogapura about 30 kms from Gangavati which is in Raichur district in Karnataka. There is a HANUMAN temple which is called Bhogapuresha. The idol was developed by Jakkanna, who lived a few centuries ago.
The idol was installed by JANAMEJAYA, who is believed to be the great grandson of Pandavas. The temple has a big sanctum sanctorum and everyday puja and sevas are performed with great devotion and purity.
The naivedyam offered to the deity should be cooked by specific brahmin preists. Any deviation from purity will not be tolerated by the deity and a snake appears in the temple in such cases.
Back in 19th century, once a robber entered the temple in the night to steal some jewellery of the deity. He robbed the jewellery and he uninstalled the deity from that place and threw the deity in a pit next to a river. The next morning, when the preist opened the temple, he was shocked to see the deity missing. Then he informed the nearby villagers about this and few days later the deity appeared to the preist in his dream and informed him about the deity being in a pit next to the river. He went with the villagers and brought the deity back to temple. As suggested by the deity in the dream they reinstalled the deity back in the original place with all vedic rituals.
There is a procession that happens every year in this place which start from the day of Ugadi (start of lunar year) and goes till seven days. This is a temple worth visiting take the blessings of God Hanuman.
