TulasiGiri is a very famous holy place which is situated at about 16 kms from Belgaum. This place is very famous for the Hanuman temple which is frequently visited by thousands of piligrims. The deity over here is self evolved (udbhav murti) and itwas installed again by SHRI VEDANTA DESHIKACHAR in 11th century who was a follower of SHRI RAMANUJACHARYA.
Later on this idol was again re-installed by SHRI VYASARAJARU in 15th century in the same place. This idol is about 6.5 feet tall and it has three Namas like the deity, LORD SRINIVASA in Tirumala. This indicates the presence of LORD SRINIVASA in the nama of this HANUMAN idol.
Once a pontiff called PRASANNA VENKATADASA was living in this place and he used to visit TIRUMALA every year for darshan. As he got old, it was not possible for him to travel to TIRUMALA. This situation made him worried. On a night when he was alseep, LORD SRINIVASA appeared in his dream and informed him not to worry and he can visit Tulasigiri HANUMAN instead of visiting TIRUMALA because LORD SRINIVASA's presence is in the nama on HANUMAN's forehead here.
The main archaka in this temple is from Ahobilam in Andhra Pradesh which is famous for LORD NARASIMHA. There is a small idol of LORD NARASIMHA also which is self evolved in this temple. Apart form this, there is presence of LORD SUDARSHANA at the back of HANUMAN's idol and also the presence of UDUPI SHRI KRISHNA in this idol. The deity, LORD HANUMAN here is offering lot of grace to devotees who visit this temple.
