Chickpet is a well-known shopping area in Bangalore under the Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency. Its roots go back to the 16th century While it remains popular, the area struggles with poor, congested roads.

Chickpet is situated in the heart of the city is a commercial hub. It is a popular well known marketplace for silk sarees, silver and gold jewelry. 

King Tipu sultan’s summer palace of the 18th century is located a kilometer away from here. Walking here is really a very tough task as this place is heavily crowded round the clock. 

Previously, there was only a snake idol. Later on after some years, faces of Lord Narasimha and Hanuman have emerged from it.

This idol was installed by Sri 1008 Sri Satyadharmateertharu around two centuries back. 

The 'ATULAGURU' seva pratishthana was founded by Sri 1008 Sri Satyatmateertharu in the year 2004. Since then it is being maintained by the Uttaradimutt.

Many spiritual and cultural events are being performed by them.
