Madhwanjaneya swamy temple is located about 7 kms north of Davanagere in a place called Kadalabalu. This temple is frequently visited by lot of people from Karnataka as well as neighbouring states.
The idol in this temple is of Lord Hanuman. This is an idol that is naturally formed in SALAGRAMA stone. The uniqueness of this idol is that this idol when observed very closely has HANUMA, BHEEMA and MADHWA avatars of Lord Hanuman. Also one can see imprints of Lord RAM, LORD KRISHNA and LORD VEDAVYASA in this idol.
This idol was excavated about 500 years ago when people found a strange incident. A cow used to go regularly near a snake pit and produce milk over it. Anxious people excavated the snake pit to find out more about the snake pit out of curiosity. To people's surprise, there was a idol of Lord Hanuman in the snake pit.
That idol was installed in the village and a temple was built around it under the administration of Dewan Poornaiah, who happened to be the minister of Mysore kingdom in those days. Later the temple was developed was various pontiffs of Madhwa community. Swamy SUSHAMEENDRA TEERTHA of Raghavendra Swamy Mutt constructed a pushkarni in the temple in 2006. A Rathotsava is organized every year on the day of Madhwa Navami. Today the temple is well developed and worth visiting to seek the blessings of Lord Hanuman.
People who have visited this temple have realised lot of auspicious things happening to them.
