'Gaali Anjaneya Swamy Temple' is located in Byatrayanapura, the suburb of Bangalore located on the Mysore Road, Karnataka, India.
The word 'Gali' means Air in Kannada language. Before the construction of this temple, this hanuman idol is open to Air. So the deity is known as 'Gali Anjaneya', son of wind God Vayu. It is well known that the great saint Sri Vyasarayaru, a great philosopher and devotee to Lord Anjaneya has installed around 732 idols of the Lord Hanuman. It is popularly believed that Sri Vyasarayaru installed this idol in the year 1425 at the convergence of two rivers Vrishabhavathi and Paschimavahini.
The idol here is west facing, placing the left hand on the hip and holding the Saugandhika flower which depicts the 'Bheema avatara'. Lord's right hand is in abhya mudra posture which indicates protection of devotees from all the evil effects and fear. The deity is adorned with 'Sindhuram'(in Saffron color). A bell is tied to the tail which is usually seen in all the statues installed by Sri Vyasarajaru. Gali Anjaneya idol is having mustache which is very rare quality and directly looking at the devotees. It is a very special thing here to note that 'Gali Anjaneya' is facing Sri Rama idol at the entrance.
Gali Anjaneya temple is having a tall Rajagopuram at the entrance. Devotees offer prayers to Lord Ganapati and Sri Venugopala Swamy before entering inside. After that, we can have darshan of lord Sri Rama and Sri Satya Narayana swamy inside the temple.
Many pilgrims visit Gali Anjaneya temple and have darshan of the Lord 'Gali Anjaneya' to overcome fear and all the hurdles in their life with His grace.
